Nurturing gratitude is at the heart of Plantitude
About the Founder
Gratitude is a very powerful emotion.
It is about focusing on what is good in our lives and being thankful for what we have. It is about pausing to notice and appreciate things that we may sometimes take for granted.
Like having clean air to breathe, a place to live, food, clean water. Like having good health, friends and family.
When we take a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are and count our blessings whether big or small, we set ourselves up for happiness. And healing.
Sometimes it takes a life-changing experience to really appreciate the power of gratitude. In early 2016, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma (a cancer of the lymphatic system). I went through a series of chemotherapy as well as an autologous stem cell transplant after a relapse. During the years of treatment and recovery, it was gratitude that saw me through. I came out of the experience feeling humbled, fortunate and blessed, and discovered a new lens to view life. I wanted to share how gratitude had helped me through so much and I was filled with a strong desire to spread the therapeutic power of giving back.
I was drawn to offer a platform that would inspire others to lead a meaningful life filled with gratitude. Having always been an avid gardener and environmentally conscious, it was only natural that the pairing of my two passions see the birth of an organisation centred around a social cause. With the two pillars of Gardening and Sustainability, guided by a deep sense of gratitude, Plantitude was born.
It is my wish that through Plantitude, we can nurture a sense of thankfulness and appreciation for what we have inside and around us, by honouring the abundance that life has to offer and to do our part in keeping it sustainable and accessible to all.
With gratitude,
